Banned Books Week Oct. 4-10 “Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read.”

It is finally October! Where we should see cooler temperatures, fall colors, and pumpkin spice everything! Another event that happens in October is the nationwide and international Banned Books Week, originally founded by the American Library Association (ALA). This annual event is scheduled for October 4-10, 2026. This years theme is “Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read.” The reason for this event is to celebrate the freedom to read and to voice opposition against the censorship of books and ideas.
